Art House is French artist Benjamin Joseph’s newest installation of work reflecting the vintage world of pop art with a new prism for a modern generation. In his own words, when asked about his inspiration for this show, Benjamin said, “Back in the 70’s, music from: The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison inspired this art form. Now I’m inspired by DJs, that’s why I chose Ibiza.”
Benjamin’s artistic journey started in mixing genres of porn and horror; as a scriptwriterhisethosturnedtosociety’s warped vision that war, violence and terror were more acceptable than the then very taboo topic of sex and sensuality in cinemas. He then turned to the lens, assisting fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier in New York, however it would be his reacquaintance with another French expat in the USA that would provide a more defining impact on the direction of his career.
At age 16, in his native France, Benjamin had become good friends with Thierry Guetta, a filmmaker and street artist who would later become known to the world as Mr. Brainwash, an artistic alias later immortalized in

the Banksy directed film: “Exit Through the Gift Shop”. Benjamin’s relationship with Thierry continued in NYC whilst the latter was a filmmaker capturing his life and the creative circles he ran with. Benjamin formed part of his crew, assisting on productions and playing a role in the hours and hours of film he shot.
